Impressions is as the title suggest, a concatenation of impressions. Although this might bring alive references with the impressionistic style, only the slow movement found its inspiration in the music from Debussy, Ravel and others. A slow opening is followed by a fast giocoso theme that returns in various ways throughout the piece. In the slow second movement, colourful chords and the beautiful low register of the clarinet make us dream. Een sparkling finale ends this original composition. Level: 4
